    Pager stuck at two desktops

This is using Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 and KDE 3.5 (I think, cant remember the command to check package versions). I have Compiz installed and have enabled a few additional effects.

i rightclick the pager and pick "Configure Desktops", I then pick a number and click "Ok".

Now to the problem; whatever number I pick, Im stubbornly stuck with 2 virtual desktops. Do Compiz overwrite some of these values? I have desktop cube enabled, for example.

Any help appreciated, and feel free to ask for more info.

    Yes.

(Assuming KDE 3.5.9) right-click the desktop, choose "configure desktop > multiple desktops" and set it to 1.

Then in Compiz-Config-Settings-Manager, click "General > Desktop Size" and set Horizontal Size to 4.

It won't necessarily show correctly in the pager -- I've seen some flakiness there, like when it looks like one big desktop instead of the 4. But, you will have 4 desktops (sides on the Compiz cube).

      - I use this. It isn't the perfect solution because you cannot have the desktops in 2x2 view.
