kmail HTML message settings

I'm running 8.04 Kubuntu
In my K-mail configuration settings, I have both of The "HTML" message boxes check, but HTML mesages do not open. I had no problems with 7.10.
What am I missing?

"settings -> configure kmail... -> security -> reading -> prefer html to plain text"

see if that's what you're looking for...

Are you getting the:

... note in a red box at the beginning of the message?
