    Sounds in Thunderbird

    Does anyone know how to change the sound in thunderbird, windows version allows you to select the sound you want, but I cannot find it in the kubuntu version. Thanks in advance

    Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Config Editor

    Find the mail.biff.play_sound.url

    Modify it with the path to the sound you want to play.

    A lot of cool sounds are located in /usr/share/sounds

    or you can provide the path to one of your own. I personally like cuckoo2.wav

      Also:

      Edit --> Preferences --> General.

      There in the lower half is a section called "When new messages arrive"

      You can change the sound file there as well.

        I knew that was there! But I could not find it earlier. When I opened the Preferences The box was not expanded. Sure, for the OP, that's the easiest way to do it.

          That's the one thing the irritates me the most. Those kind of windows should open up to show all that is being displayed, not a set size that hides things.
