Weather applet for KDE 4.1

Hi all

I am ready to migrate my home computer to kde 4.1, once released. This computer is not mainly used by me, but by my family. One crucial app for them is a weather applet for the desktop. They are currently using liquidweather, but it does not seem to run under superkaramba for KDE 4. (I tried something found in kubuntu forums, but the problem is that it never gets listed among the plasma widget list.

KDE 4.1 should also support dashboard widgets, but none weather widget runs correctly under RC1.

This is really a showstopper for them, so I would be very happy if someone knows any weather applet that really works under 4.1.

This version of KDE is really improved in many aspects that I really find it superior to any previous release, so it would be nice if I can migrate all the computers at home to KDE4.

I look forward for your advice.

It it really goog to have already a plasma-based weather applet.

I would like also to mention that there is also the possibility to use google gadgets (which are open source and have a qt-backend)


It can be installed fairly simply in kubuntu

I've been getting by with Forecastfox... not bad for a replacement (for the info, not the functionality of course) until the plasmoid gets finished.

as an info, I use GKrellM as a monitor plus gkrellweather <- available on the repos
No nice graphs nor effects, just text

I'm using Gkrellm too, with the gkrellweather plugin. I don't mind not having pretty images on my desktop telling me what the weather gods say is going on. If I want a picture, I'll just look out my window!

Sorry, but I don't get liquidweather into the list of available widgets in plasma. But this works if launched from the superkaramba executable. which is great!

Now, I am another happy lwp user under 4.1.

It is worth adding that an additional dependency (I did not have this installed and was needed) is

libkrosspython0
