Compiz from git?[still not resolved]

I've been looking around for months and I can't find out how to compile compiz from git on Kubuntu 8.04. Is this possible? If so, can somebody walk me through it from a fresh install (or at least give me a link)

this is for getting certain certain plugins to work with an apt-get compiled compiz. As I was lead to believe, certain plugins (such as the sphere cube deformation) only worked with a git-compiled compiz.
