SMPlayer sound problem after upgrading

Greetings everyone,

I have a problem with the video player i am using (smplayer - a front-end for mplayer). After upgrading to 8.04, the sound doesn't seem to be working. In other players i tried (vlc and MPlayer) it works fine.

It's not a big issue, since i can use one of this anyway, but i'm curious why it wouldn't work.

Have you tried to select another audio driver in Preferences->General?

Look under Tools->Preferences->General->Audio if everything is set as it should be. If you have AC3/DTS pass-through S/PDIF ticked, un-tick it. That was the problem in my case.

The second thing is, I had to select channels under Audio->Channels, before playing a movie for the first time.
