    Launching TestDisk in Konsole

    Hi guys!

I'm trying to get TestDisk to launch in a Konsole window using the KDE menu. Using the menu editor, I set the correct path (usr/sbin/testdisk) and I set it to run as root. Yet when I try to launch it, Konsole doesn't launch, but the app runs (bouncing cog).

Can anyone help me fix this?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply, Rog, and yeah, it's installed correctly and runs once I type it into Konsole

Tried it, but unfortunately "sudo testdisk" isn't working.

Hmm - If i set it to run as root and untick "Run in terminal" => There will be stuck testdisk process. I need to kill it before "sudo testdisk" works.

              Re: Launching TestDisk in Konsole

              AH HA!!! I got it!!!

I looked at Konsole's help file, and I came across two intriguing options, "--noclose" and "-e". So my full command is "konsole --noclose -e sudo testdisk" (w/o quotes). Works like a bloody charm!

              Thanks again "Rog131"!!

You may try using kdesu instead of sudo.

What is the difference between kdesu and sudo?

                      Hi guys,

I have been passing through a little problem trying to launch testdisk on backtrack 5 R-2, it seems to not be installed (when i try to run it by typing "sudo testdisk") but when i try to install it (by typing "apt-get install testdisk") it says: "testdisk is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded."

any ideas of how to fix this?

                      thanks in advance.
