Is anybody running Google Earth .....

I'm using Kubuntu Hardy 8.04 and I cannot seem to get Google Earth to run. I have tried many ,many suggestions from the simplest to the most complicated. No go. Can anyone give me a simple step by step procedure? Go easy, I'm not a veteran, just a Kubuntu fanatic.

      Quote from here:
      https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu

run the following in a terminal:
      Code:
      sudo wget [url]http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/hardy.list[/url] -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
      then:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update
now open up adept and search for:
      google earth>install

      I hope that helps

Yes, the Medibuntu method works just fine.

HOWEVER, during the actual installation process (i.e. after you marked the package in Adept or Synaptic and installation is started) the EULA will pop up, and what is not obvious is that you must scroll it to the bottom and put an "X" in the "I accept" box, or else it won't finish installing. Then click "Next" and it will finish.

yes.. I finally remembered what it was like to instal Java on Fiesty when it was just sitting there.. and went looking to see what the problem was. I eventually figured it out.. but I vowed not to be the first to mention it.

Could this be a case for a return to using Synaptic? After a not so fun period in the winter.. maybe my beloved it beconing to us again?

            Hey Fintan,
I tried this and when I went to Adept I got this message:

“There was an error committing changes. There was possibly a problem downloading some packages, or else the commit would break packages.”

I ran into this before and found a fix that worked and now the same fix wont work. (*(*%&%^&$^%
            Frustrated.
So can anyone get me out of this mess?
Maybe I'm just not meant to use Google Earth!!! but now I need to solve Adept!
