I ran the beta 2 update this morning and now I have no menu in my panel. I can add a menu widget to the panel but it puts it on the right hand side. Any suggestions?

I think you should be able to drag the menu from the "Add a Widget" dialog to the left side of your panel and it will stay there. It may take multiple attempts, but it should work. Just make sure that your panel hasn't been "locked" in the panel preferences. -

Having said that, I have something more to say:
Today new KDE 4.1 beta has arrived, 4.80 is now old and either way, appart from pulseaudio, it's pretty stable... And I can see it a little faster than KDE 4.0X...
Perhaps youcould find intresting to test it...
