    Re: Can't install flashplayer 9

Look at it this way, whenever there is a flash upgrade, people have problems with it. So if what you have now is working, don't worry about having the latest version.

Actually, that's the problem. There is one site I use quite often that is requiring the "124" version so it won't work for me. The other issue is that I haven't been able to view YouTube videos since I tried upgrading. Maybe YouTube is unrelated to Adobe because I haven't seen too many others mentioning it. In any case, thank you Detonate (and everyone else) for your time and effort in helping me to resolve this problem.

Yes, YouTube can be aggravating. Many times I can't get it to work either. So I'm going to give you a workaround. First, open a terminal and enter
        Code:
        sudo apt-get install vlc
. If you have not installed the "Greasemonkey " extension in FF, do so.
        Code:
        sudo apt-get install firefox-greasemonkey
Then go to http://userscripts.org, find a Greasemonkey Script called YouTube Download and install it. Then when you try to view a video in You tube, it will open a sidebar with the option to download the video. When you click on that link, it will bring up the download dialog box and ask you whether you want to open the file, or save it to disk. Click on the Browse button, and navigate to /usr/bin/vlc. Check the block that says to always use this, and click the block to open the file. VLC seems to always be able to play the videos that won't open in the browser. The reason I have not mentioned this before, is that Greasemonkey would not work in FF3 until just a couple of days ago.

I just noticed I had a typo in the userscripts link. I guess you figured it out. I've corrected it in case anyone else needs this little trick.
