(solved) how do i edit the application launcher menu?

I'm moving this from isntalation and boot to here in hopes that it will get noticed and answered.

I want to goto 4.1 but one of the 2 things that is bugging me is that I can't edit the entry's in the application launcher.
I thought that making changes with kmenueditor would work but it doesn't.
I have programs in lost and found that are in the right place in a KDE 3.5 session. And a few programs I have installed are not there. I have to search from application launcher to find them.

I would like some help before I make the jump.

which environment are you working with now?
    kde3.5.9 or kde4.0.5 or both?

DEo you want to replace 4.0.5 with kde 4.1?

In kde4.1 you can right click on the kmenu and choose edit menu which will basically give you a kde 3.5.9 kmenuedit panel.

If you find your app. in launcher (from the kmenu in kde4) then you can easily add them to your favorites.

OK right now I'm in 3.5.9 and have 4.0.4 installed.

yes i would like to update/replace my kde 4.0 installation to 4.1

I was holding off on doing it untill i got an answer on this.

I like how the applications are set up in my KDE 3.5 menu, and want KDE 4 to be the same way.

Thank you for your info when i update later i will see how it looks.

      Thank you again,

Well, in kde4.1 you can also choose with a right click which menu style you want to have generic or classical.

basically there is only one way to find out if you like / can live with it.

Kde4.1 rc1 is being worked on and has its issues. Although not major for most but does have quirks

        Personally I love it

I've got KDE 4.1 and love it too. Couple of minor quirks like Fintan says... but the truth be known I have KDE 4.0.0 still running on my laptop (too lazy to update it) and I can still live with that.. it's WAY far behind where 4.1 is currently but it's work able. I wouldn't want to go back to that as my daily driver... but it's fun for a trip out on the coffee table sometimes.
