    Positioning Task Manager on the Panel

    Hi, SOMEHOW my wife managed to delete taskmanager from my panel. She denies the whole thing... now when I add it, it will only go on the far right which is not at all where I want it.. it makes the whole panel messy and change sizes. So currently I have it removed.. which is not what I want.

    Help?

    @Bongo, she did that to me too!

    I think you are doomed to rebuild your desktop and panel, by deleting the hidden .kde4 directory in your user folder, logging out and back in, and then enjoying a re-engineering project.

    The silver lining in this cloud? Well, maybe you'll think of a better setup for the panel than you had before.

      Can't you just drag the taskmanager from the "Add Widget" dialog to the left side of your panel? It seems to work for me. I can have two taskmanagers side by side--not that I want to, though.

        I can't drag the taskbar around on the panel.

        And when I drag it from the Add Widgets menu it doesn't appear where I put it...

        I was afraid I was going to have to delete the kde4 folder... I like my setup.

          Okay bongo,
          something similar happened to me on kde 4.1 Are you kde4.0 or kde 4.1? There is a difference.

          Depending on your setup we can solve this very quickly.

          And when I drag it from the Add Widgets menu it doesn't appear where I put it...
          where do you want it?

            to the left of the system tray and the part where the short cuts for programs get put.

                Okay bongo,
                if you drag the taskbar from the widgets window right next to the kmenu widget on your panel it should drop right in.

                If that doesn't work you can do it by hand by putting one of the configurations in your .kde4/plasma-appletsrc:

                Kde4.1
                [Containments][2][Applets][10]
                geometry=46,2,375,42
                immutability=1
                plugin=tasks
                zvalue=0

                Kde4.0.5
                [Containments][2][Applets][4]
                geometry=46,1,375,42
                locked=false
                plugin=tasks

                As you can see my panel height is 42 so you may have too change that to your panel height.

                I edit my panel-appletsrc from recovery mode as root.

                I hope that helps
