Sorry for the delayed response. I don't quite understand your problem. Are you saying that when you left click an application icon in the kicker panel, it appears on ALL your desktops at the same time? If not, are you saying that all your applications appear one on top of another on desktop 1? Or, am I confused?

      Sorry if I'm not clear.
I will give you an example.

If I open firefox ,kdpf (on desktop 1) and I minimize them, they appears at kicker.
when I switch to desktop 2 at kicker I have the same minimized applications (firefox and kpdf), even if when I open it, it goes to desktop 1.

I'd like to have independent desktops.
desktop1 with their minimized application and desktop2 with their and not both with the same minimized application.

I see that even if in kicker I have 4 desktops If i do right click --> configure desktop
it have only one desktop I try to change it but when I try to configure I find always only one desktop

Okay, I think I understand. I think there is a misunderstanding about the kicker panel and desktops. I can only talk about KDE3 because I, personally, don't believe that KDE4 is ready for normal use and I don't want to start confusing myself by learning about something I can't use.

In KDE3, I believe that the kicker panel is the same on every desktop, so it will not change when you switch to a different desktop. The kicker is composed of a number of parts, but I'm only going to mention a few. At the far left end there is a K symbol that opens the Kmenu. Next to it, there is a menu of "important places that can be opened in Konqueror. Then, there is button that minimizes all the applications on the current desktop, so you can see the icons on the desktop. Then there is a large area where you can put icons to start your favorite programs, (so you don't have to put them on the desktop or use the desktop icon).

Then there are two panel applications that may be causing your confusion. One is called the "Desktop Preview and Pager" This shows you which programs are active on which desktop and allows you to switch to a different desktop by clicking on the correct square. The other is the Taskbar. It shows icons of all the open applications. When you click on an application in the Taskbar it switches to that application ON THE DESKTOP IT IS OPEN ON. You NEVER have to minimize an application. If you have enough desktops, you just switch to another desktop. You never have to have more than 1 application open on any desktop (unless you are cutting and pasting between two applications). The pager and the taskbar are redundant. I use the pager to show me what is running on which desktop, but (since I never have more than one or two programs on each desktop) I use the taskbar to switch to the program that I want to use.

Or you can use one desktop only. Put a set of icons on the desktop, start one, minimize it, start another, minimize it, and start a third just as if you were still using windoze. Many beginners start that way because it is the technique that they know. Other users here, probably have their own styles of working that they can suggest to you.

There are other useful things on the kicker panel (like the Quick Launcher, and the System Tray), but we'll leave that for another question.
