How will KDE 4 load onto HardyH KDE3.5.9?

Hi, How will KDE 4 load onto HardyH KDE3.5.9? Will I have to reload HardyH from the beginning, making the existing HardyH 3.5.9 redundant or will there be a place where I can click to upload it into the existing HardyH? Could I use something like Adept?

Yes, I've done it myself, instructions for installing KDE 4.1RC1 here.

KDE 4.1 RC1 will replace kde 3.5.9 ans is still a bit quirky as you can read here:
      http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...;topicseen#new

      and here:
      http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...;topicseen#new

You can install kde4.0.5 "next" to kde3.5.9 and choose it before logging in.

      Instructions here:
      http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-4.0.5.php

Which path you prefer depends largely on your willingness to experiment and go out on the "edge".

Ummm Nope - I definitely still have my KDE 3.5.9 environment which I can choose via the session menu when logging in.

Agree that 4.1RC is quirky though.

          I stand corrected.
I remember now. I installed kde4.1 on top of kde4.0.4 remix and it replaced that.
          Sorry for the confusion

Either way, with the effects coming with Kwins next release (as for 4.1.83 there have some more) compiz will never be needed again for those wanting "a cool desktop" and at the expenses of less resources...

Either way, Compiz is never needed at all xD --- memory and proceasing leak cough cough**** ---
