xmms2 ?
Package: xmms2 (0.2DrJekyll-4ubuntu4)
Client/server based media player system
XMMS2 is a redesign of the XMMS music player. It features a client-server model, allowing multiple (even simultaneous!) user interfaces, both textual and graphical. All common audio formats are supported using plugins. On top of this, there is a flexible media library to organize your music.
This package is a meta package depending on various other XMMS2 packages. Installing this package gets you a commandline client and enables XMMS2 playback of Ogg Vorbis and MP3 files from local and remote sources.

Re: good mp3 player on kubuntu.
I don't think there is still any music player that can beat Amarok..
I've tried so many.. but still came back down to Amarok.
but i still Love winamp when ever i dualboot to windows.. Now if they only had something like the new winamp for linux.. that would really be cool..

Amarok, of course. But if you like simplicity I recommend JuK http://developer.kde.org/~wheeler/juk.html. They have a version for KDE 4.1 Beta 2 that you can installa from apt.Enjoy a Free and Open World!
http://unmundolibre.es

Re: good mp3 player on kubuntu.
Greetings from Guelph. Agreement here! If you don't want to link up your iPod or see the visualization meter and just want to listen to some music while working on something else Juk fires up really fast and works great! For iPodding Amarok is wonderful!

Definitely Amarok. Tried a couple of others but when I found how easy Amarok was to sync with my daughters iPod, never looked back."Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like it's from Neptune." ~Noam Chomsky

Gigabyte MB, AMD 64x2 6000, 2 Gigs Patriot DDR2, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX, 400Gig WD SATA HDD & 1TB WD SATA HDD.
