    Firefox broken after todays update

    Hi all

    Installed this morning's updates (amongst which was a new version of FF) and now kicking it off from the terminal just gives the following

    Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/x86_64/dl-machine.h: 416: elf_machine_rela_relative: Assertion `((reloc->r_info) & 0xffffffff) == 8' failed!
    I've tried reinstalling the previous version, which just gives the same error, so it must have been one of the other updates.

    Any ideas on which one or what to try greatly appreciated...

      Have downloaded Firefox3 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

      Whilst this gives a few errors to the terminal...it does run...

        You might get a good answer here.

        http://forums.mozillazine.org/

        Go to "Firefox Builds" and ask away. That's where they discuss Firefox 3 now.

          ubuntu 8.04 comes with firefox-3, this is not a stable version yet
          you shuld remove it and install firefox-2

          here is a full guide for how to do this correctly:
