    AUDACITY can't play audio files

    Hi everybody.
I'm using Kubuntu from 2007 (from Edgy Eft). I was very happy.
I used a USB printer, scanner and it worked well: now it doesn't print.
I'm a musician and I used AUDACITY to manipulate and mix audio files.
Now, in Hardy Heron, I open an audio file with AUDACITY and it can not play my file.
A file that in preceding version was played without problems.

    The message is:
Error during the opening of audio device.
Check option about reproduction device and frequency sampling

I'm very disappointed from Hardy Heron version. At home I don't have many and many time to spend with programs that in past had run and now don't run !!

Re: AUDACITY can't play audio files

    Hio,

HH has a new audio system and it threw me when I first started using it to. It seems like the system always has control of the audio devices. There is a setting somewhere that allows multible programs to use a single audio device. I'm sorry I can't remember what it is, but it exists!

My solution was to enable both my onboard sound card, and my PCI board. I used my PCI board for Audacity and the onboard for the system sounds. I have since gone back to just using my PCI board.. but it just kinda works for me now... If I remember how I will post it. Maybe there's enough info in this post for you to search, or for someone else to help you.

Just remember, there is a solution.
