First off, I would like to Congradulate all of the Kubuntu developer and ppl working on the project, it's awesome. Im currently migrating to the linux platform and I've chosen Kubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 to start off.
After trial and error installing, and re-installing, mainly because I broke things by installing way to many settings configurators or wrong drivers etc. I got a stable system. The only problem I have is when I update Kubuntu to with the latest available, and upgrade from KDE3.5.9 to KDE4.04 everything was working, but once I enabled the desktop effects, and installed the Compiz advanced settings manager, and Enable Nvidia Proprietry Graphics controllers KDE hangs just after Login in, for about 20secs, and then the login sound plays and everything (as far as I know) is as normal. Is there a way to solve this, if you need more info give me some clue on how to provide it.
My system is AMD Am2 2x 3200 64bit, but I think my Kubuntu is 32bit, 4Gigs Ram, GeForce 8600GT 512Mb, Asus M2N.
Thanks very much!
PS. There is a post about login hangs, but I'm not sure this is the same issue, because it's only once I install the advanced settings manager and compiz etc.
