Just tried running a gretl script I wrote at work and it failed to complete. I noticed that this is because the command I used is not available in version 1.7.1 which is the one in the repos & hence in kubuntu. The current version is 1.7.4, does anyone know if there is anywhere I can check to see if it is likely to be updated in the repos anytime soon? I know I could just download the tarball and try compiling it myself but it just not quite the same.

(gretl is a statistics program for regression analysis)

What are Backports

Ubuntu releases a new version of its OS every 6 months. After a release, the version of all packages stays constant for the entire 6 months. For example, if Ubuntu ships with OpenOffice.org 2.0.x, it will remain at OpenOffice.org 2.0.x for the entire 6-month release cycle, even if a later version gets released during this time.
