[Solved] Remote desktop sharing not working

I have tried to get Remote Desktop Sharing working from Windows XP Tight VNC client to Kubuntu 8.04.

I have enabled the correct configuration settings on Krfb Desktop Sharing (allow remote connections, allow uninvited connections & control of desktop) but the TightVNC client just times out after a period of trying to connect.

Can anyone provide assistance?

Do you have a firewall or a router set up on the Kubuntu box?

No. I have installed a couple of firewall packages (Guarddog is one of them) but disabled them both.

My Kubuntu laptop connects via wifi to a WAP on my local network, which works fine.

It was a firewall. I started /System/Firestarted and clicked on the "Stop Firewall" button, then I could connect.
