I'm beginning to think there isn't a solution and one cannot work with this program.
Does anyone know of a similar program that works in Linux. I'm talking about a program that makes a database of photographs and gives info about photos (even a thumbnail) even though the photos are not stored on the computer. For example they may be on a cd or external drive. The database will state where the photos are saved. Such a program exists for windows and is called iMatch. Iota seemed to be a similar program but despite the huge amount of help I got here, it seems the program doesn't work and the iota guys aren't responding.

Hi gnowak (and others)
I just received this reply from Vijoy (the creator of iota). Ireplied asking for his assistance on moving on and getting iota to work. Here's hoping.

Hi Errol,
iota is now pretty much unsupported - cannot seem to find time to maintain
it across the various Linux platforms and versions.
Sorry, I should mention this right up front on the web site - will do.
Its open for anyone who would like to take it further - so please feel
free. Sorry about the news that you were probably not looking for.
