    Mount/umount for all users

In order for all users to be able to mount/unmount, do the file permissions have to be 4755 (setuid) or is there another way? Is 4755 the Kubuntu default? I am asking because I suddenly was no longer able to mount drives as normal user and realised that I had changed mount/umount permissions to 705 (but not to 4705) to exclude a certain group of users from being able to mount/unmount.
