Cannot unlock desktop with special effects

    Hi,

I'm having trouble unlocking my desktop when special effects are on. Simple test case:

    * Switch on "special effects" in the desktop settings.
    * Press CTRL-ALT-L to lock the desktop.
    * Getting a black screen. Can not raise the dialog to enter the password. I need to restart X to get rid of this.

If the special effects are off I can raise the dialog to enter the password.

Anyone any idea what I can do to make this work ? Or at least what's going on ?

    Running on:
    HP Compaq 6170b
    Kubuntu 8.04 / KDE 4.0.4

    Thanks for any clue !!
