    multiple desktop icons

I am new to kubuntu but not to linux or kde. I can't find the option to turn off the task bar icons when using multiple desktops. I only want to see the icons from the active desktop in the kicker.

In other kde distros the option is in the control panel but kubuntu has a different setup.

I really like 8.04 and have everything setup to my liking but this one little thing is bugging me!

    thanks for any help

I don't know what you mean by:

Are you in kde3.5.9 or kde4??

If by that you mean showing only the apps open on a certain window in the taskbar then do:
-in kde3: right click on the panel (kicker) and choose configure taskbar. Navigate to taskbar and set up as you want.
-in kde4 right click on the panel and choose configure taskbar

Plus you can always fall back on on kcontrol: alt+F2 type kcontrol (if it is installed, if not then install it with sudo apt-get install kcontrol)) and have a look there.

Hope that points you in the right direction and welcome to the party

That was what i was looking for!

I was expecting to find it in system settings, never tried right clicking on the taskbar.

Thanks for the help, that was the last tweak i needed to make 8.04 perfect!
