Kmail - Mail disappears when you try to select it

I've just installed Hardy with KDE3. I've upgraded to the latest Kmail. I had exported all my mail from Gutsy and reimported it to Hardy. Now when I click on a message to read it, the sender, title, date sent are all replaced by unknown. When the message opens, it is blank with all entries marked unknown.

This does not happen on all messages. It may happen on one but not another, It is not restricted to old or new mail, or to any particular date the mail is sent or received, or to any particular sender.

Any ideas?
