Could someone point me in the right direction here. I'm trying to install RealPlayer and get it hooked up with firefox. I have found some threads dealing with this but I have noticed that apparently what goes for one release doesn't go for all. Thanks.

Re: Real Player install
Consider installing the packages helix-player and mozilla-helix-player which are available via Adept Manager.
What's Helix and why does it matter?
RealPlayer 11 for Linux is based on the open source Helix player.
Otherwise, to install the RealPlayer11 GOLD:
Mark the file as executable:
Browse to the folder containing the RealPlayer11GOLD.bin file.
Right-click and select the last menu, Properties.
Click on the Permissions tab.
Click (check) the: Execute: Allow executing file as program.
Open a Console.
Drag and drop RealPlayer11GOLD.bin into the Terminal window.
Press Enter to run the program and continue to hit Enter whenever needed.
This installs RealPlayer in user mode; RealPlayer 11 menu should now appear in Applications desktop menu / Sound & Video.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Re: Real Player install
Thanks snow hog. I have tried Helix player but for some reason the site I was using says it doesn't know what to do with the file, even if I copy the link and put it in myself. I figured maybe I'd have better luck with the realplayer, I've used the site before when running windoze and had no problem. Thanks again. No pride here, I just need HELP!!!
