    Kwin crashes while trying to change display resolution

    I am running Hardy + KDE 4. My KWin crashes very frequently.

    One is when I try to change display resolution. My monitors base resolution is 1680 X 1050. But it only displays 1280 X 800. When I try to change is to 1680 X 1050 Kwin crashes.

    Any help? At least I would appreciate some help regarding which logs to look into.

      I'm not an expert but you could try System - KSystemlog, I think it's installed by default.
      There's a menu called Logs and you want the second log.
      It's the xorg log, and you can also reach it here: /var/log/Xorg.0.log
