A week ago or so I made a full HD backup with Mondo. It seemed very promising, but I wanted to know whether I could trust the backup, so I tried the restore. First "interactive" restore, and since it actually ruined my system, I tried the full restore. It was a total fiasco. I'm pretty sure I did everything by the book, and I am sure that a Mondo+Kubuntu expert could have salvaged my system, but I just followed directions and ended up with a black screen and the encouraging message "type help for help". Which I did, but I did not even have a prompt, so that got me nowhere.
Well, this is no disaster for me, since I do not depend on that computer at the moment and I shall reinstall my Kubuntu.
My message, however: BEWARE of MONDO. though it is in the Hardy repositories, it does not seem to be compatible - at least not for the non-expert user.
