Re: When KDE goes down the toilet Kubuntu will follow

I can open my samba shares in d3lphin (dolphin kse3) and konqueror (kde3) in kde3 and kde4 unde HH.

In kde4 remix it does not work.

With dolphin proper (kde4) or konqueror kde4 that does not work.

Ark works in d3lphin and kde3 in all variations but not in kde4. Dolphin (kde4) does not yet support ark in any variation (even open with...) correctly. Nor does konqueror kde4.

So, when does the revolution begin?

But seriously, if you go on to Slackware because you don't like this one aspect of the KDE package, then you are indeed exercising your right to move on. Might I suggest that you take your concerns about ftp and file browsing to the Dolphin developers. It sounds like you have a reasonable concern, and probably a good case for a feature request.

in the end why gripe, take the dolphin source and implement it urself if it's that important.

Also with dolphin (in kde 3.5.9) I can right-click - actions - extract here or extract to subdiectory or something sim. to that with of course ark. Also dolphin does mount external drives, etc (actually the linux kernel does that or so)... I can right click - mount, etc..

        1 & 3 are already there

        "(2) mount samba shares" I don't use samba so I don't know.

I'm sorry if you think I was griping all I wanted to say is what is being implemented is regressive! I would have thought if you are going to create a new version of something you would use the previous version & build on it! not strip it & put it out prematurely.

On another note I find myself having to log on to recovery console to delete /home/user/.kde4/share folder to be able to get title bar, be able to resize apps etc & not have session freezing.

I guess I have 2 questions 10 does anyone have a fix or 2) can I automate deleting this on shutdown?
