    kde 4 - no sound in flash/FF3

I get normal system sounds though my USB sound card, however, nothing from the web (you-tube, flash...)

anyone seen this problem? I have done limited searching, but haven't found anything that works...

    Thanks!

Thought I should update a few thing with this...video works fine, for example, I can go to youtube.com and see the video, I just cant hear it.

    Hope that helps someone diagnose.

When I had a Fedora 8, exactly same issue was caused by pulse audio and plugins based on pulse audio, try removing it

I had the same issue for a month w/ ff2, it's more of a *buntu issue than anything else.

go to aboutlugins and post what flash version you are using.

I ended up abandoning my soundcard, then tried yamaha usb spkrs, finally went w/ onboard sound and some cheap spkrs for that setup. Dreading doing it all over again w/ my optical on the nf7s

open a new tab and type it in the address bar.

Re: kde 4 - no sound in flash/FF3

I know that a machine I have had two sound cards. In KDE4 I went to System Settings --> Sound. Everywhere it had the one I didn't want the system to use I moved down the list in each entry in the let window. This helped a lot since I had the onboard disabled and the system still wanted to use it as default. Once I did that I hadn't had any problems. Don't know if that is the case here, but worth a look.

Since I had the onboard off when I installed this time, it didn't even show up, so I don't think that was the case...I had other issues with it as well, so I guess I'll go with the onboard untill I can get a new pro PCI or Firewire card.

Had this same problem and it drove me nuts. Here is how I fixed it
Erased hard drive with gparted and did a clean install of KDE4 Hardy. Then,
                      apt-get install firefox
                      download install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz from adobe
as user (not as sudo) run ~/install_flash_player_9_linux/flashplayer-installer
                      That fixed it for me.
                      Let me know what happens.

Re: kde 4 - no sound in flash/FF3

I see two possible solutions - if your KDE is configured to use pulseaudio, try installing the libflashsupport package, it should fix flash+pulseaudio compatibility, and may also help in general...

Also, after upgrade, my (onboard) soundcards volume was muted to zero, not on a usual volume control (master or pcm) but on "front" - it took a few head scratches to figure that out...
