Write permission denied

I know there are command line ways to check this - but why can't I do it the GUI way?

What I have done is this:

Create new partition for data (hdg4).
Open System Settings -> Advanced -> Disk and file system.
Log in as administrator, highlight hdg4, New.

Mount as /data in my ~/home/nils1 directory, check the write permission box and mount at start box.

But when I try writing to or moving files here - Access denied; I have to start any program with root permission.

Is it possible to fix this in any GUI way?

Yes and no.

Yes; you can do it from the right-click properties in Konqueror.

No; you'll first have to start Konqueror up as root and that's done from the command line... :P

Tried that in Dolphin - did not stick over reboot. Hope this is not "by default".
