I know the volume controls using my keyboard are done by kmilo instead of kmix, but then how do I tell kmilo which volume channel to use? It's stuck on "headphones" which on my onboard audio card seems to actually control nothing ("Front" and "PCM" are the two actually important ones, and I tend to have the master volume set for "Front"). How the hell do I get it to control the right channel?
I swear it used to work, then some point during Gutsy it broke . . . I was hoping it would be fixed with Hardy, but although Hardy did fix a few other things (which are long stories themselves) and seems to have added the "Master" volume control in kmix, the volume dial on my G11 keyboard still calls up kmilo to fiddle with the utterly useless headphone volume no matter what I do. I've searched and searched for some way to modify or correct this behavior, but no luck. Maybe someone out there on this forum can help? Fingers crossed . . .
(Oh yeah, I'm using KDE3; KDE4 is pretty wonky with my TwinView/AMD64 setup in the past, although I haven't tried it on this PC with Hardy yet. I know with my laptop the volume buttons would just invoke kmilo/kmix to start anyways though, so I'm guessing the problems wouldn't be fixed just with KDE4 yet).
