Arg - it's the end of the world - Kubuntu won't shut down! SOLVED.

    Hi Guys,

Nothing major but since installing HH from disc I find that clicking 'shutdown' does not work. The screen goes blank but the machine trundles on. Sometimes pushing the reboot button or the power button seems to complete the shutdown sometimes not!

I've checked the default option and looked around the forum but canna find what I need.

    Any ideas please

    Thanks

that's a known 'misbehavior'. See here and the following posts.

Thanks for that - at least I am not alone.

From what I can see it is deliberate 'enhancement' by the dev. team however I use a desktop and not a laptop and it is annoying!!! >

      AND

pushing the 'off' or 'reboot' button does not always work so a bit of a 'bummer' me thinks.

          Right - issue resolved!

I looked at sbin and the options in there (first time for everything!) and found that as well as 'poweroff' there was 'halt', Changed my option on shutdown to that and hey presto we now shut down as one would expect.

I assume 'poweroff' is for the laptops

Anyway have a good day and thanks to squirrel
