How do you use a Compiz theme?

So I've been away from Compiz for a while. The last time I used Compiz you still needed to install Emerald and then use Emerald themes. This doesn't seem to work out so well now...

So how do I use a them, from say kde-look.org?

    Thanks!

It should still be Emerald. That is what I'm using now. Is this Kubuntu's "Desktop Effects" that installs parts of Compiz or did you install Compiz yourself?

I installed it myself... and lol ya.. I've got all kinds of fun things happening.

Note: fun does not equal fun.

desktop loads and the cursor bounces for about 30 seconds then the music plays and I can start to do things.

desktop logs out all on it's own back to KDM - randomly.

desktop fades to black and white and freezes - randomly (might have been a loose SATA cable)

          window decorations disappear and reappear.

          lol
