    kcontrol problem with Alt+F2

Okay, looking for answers to the problem I first reported here.

Running kcontrol from Alt+F2 results in a KDEinit error saying it can't locate usr/bin/kcontrol
I can run it from Alt+F2 if I provide the path as /usr/bin/kcontrol so I believe it's a problem in a control file where the path to kcontrol is missing the leading /

Running kcontrol from a console works. As provided in the post above, my system path is correct.

Anyone else experiencing this? If so, did you fix it, and how?

In my "normal" HH 8.04 (I do not have the remix),
    Alt+F2
    kcontrol
    works fine. No problems.

    kcontrol also works in Konsole.

I second that with my KDE3 HH

8.04 remix. Alt + F2 kcontrol nothing happens. The button for launch application is greyed out.
Kcontrol in konsole i get this:
        tom@tom:~$ kcontrol
The program 'kcontrol' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
        sudo apt-get install kcontrol
        bash: kcontrol: command not found

Still hoping for some insight and a fix. This is my path as results from a konsole with echo $PATH
          /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
This is what happens when I attempt to run kcontrol from Alt+F2
