Creating my own widgets

I would like to create simple calendar notifier widget. How can I do that?
i would like that it would notify me about things that will come in this week.
If anyone knows how it would really help.
If anyone knows widget that already does that pleas let me know.

Im no expert but if you go to

www.kde-look.org

search for plasmoids on the side and most of them include the source code and email address of the creator perhaps that might help?
