Icons for removable media stop appearing on the desktop

I've got Hardy Heron installed on three machines now, two at home, and one at work. On my main machine, which has an AMD Athlon 3000+ CPU, the icons for anything mounted to /media just stopped appearing on the desktop. I can see them if I open the storage media Konqueror or Dolphin view. I've compared the settings of all mountables on all three machines, and nothing looks any different. I've been updating all three at the same time, as well, so I don't think an update broke anything. I also know it's still technically pre-release, but it's been so damned stable that I forget.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

They don't show up on mine, either. Which is funny because that was the first thing I noticed when I installed Alpha 5. But as you say, it's there in Dolphin if you need it. I wouldn't blame the devs for leaving that one pretty far down the priority list of the stuff that needs fixed.

I suppose you're right, it's not a show-stopper. But I just wonder why it worked, and then stopped. And why it still works on my other two machines. It's baffling. Still, I can't get enough of Ubuntu with a K! I just need to get more acclimated with KDE 4.

      Thanks for the reply.
