preferences lost

Hi all
sorry for this noob question but i'm using kubuntu 8.04 and everytime i boot i lose my desktop preferences..
for example i lose all icons i've placed on deskoop or i must reconfigure ksensors.
i think that i should "chown" some directories or files...but i don't know what...
can anyone help me to fix this?

thanks for your answer but "restore session on login" is just enabled.
