    kded keeps crashing

I installed Kubuntu Hardy Alpha 5 on my Inspiron 1420N and everything seemed to be working fine. After setting everything up and applying some updates though, kded crashes as soon as I hit the house button on my keyboard to open up Amarok. After that happens I can no longer use that or the volume buttons.

Any ideas?? How would I go about finding the cause of this problem?

    The backtrace provides the following:
    Code:

I think maybe we need to hear more about your sound system. What is the sound chip on that Inspiron? Did you check it out with this:

    ?

I think that it is not the sound system, since that will all still work, it's just my top hotkeys that get screwed up. Regardless here is some info on the sound:

Google shows that this laptop from Dell was/is shipped with Ubuntu (Gnome Desktop). A review I read online suggests everything works 'out of the box' in this configuration. That said, it's a laptop. Check Adept Manager for the installation of hotkey-setup:
A program to configure the extra function keys of the keyboard

KeyTouch is a program which allows you to easily configure the extra function keys of your keyboard. This means that you can define, for every individual function key, what to do if it is pressed.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
