    Anyone got flash working?

    Hi everyone,

trying to get Adobe Flash to work on a freshly installed HH KDE4 Alpha, but no luck so far. Doesn't work with either Opera or Konqueror. Tried both the flashplugin-nonfree package as well as a manual download and install directly from Adobe. In both cases youtube on Konqueror keeps telling me that the plugin is too old, on Opera it doesn't say this and clearly the plugin seems to get used, but it's all just grey boxes with no content.

Running Opera from Konsole didn't yield any error messages (or other messages for that matter) at all.

Still have to check Launchpad but just wanted to know if it's working for anyone out there.

I can't get it to work with Opera 9.26, however it does work with the current 9.50 beta.

For fun, install the gnash package and see if you can watch youtube or other video sources.

It seems to play some things for me that weren't working before.

Opera 9.50 adds operapluginwrapper, which might be the difference.

Works fine here with Firefox3 and Konqueror. Haven't tried it in HH with Opera, but it works fine in GG with Opera.

Well, first of all thanks for the input.

Strangely enough I still can't get it to work in Opera or Konqueror. Firefox (3) works though. That, being a GTK app, is my least favorite choice though so I'd still like to have Flash in at least one of the other two browsers.

I guess it's the same problem as with the current Adobe Flash plugin not working with Konqueror and Opera (something to do with Qt AFAIR) in Gutsy. I will download a previous version of the plugin, overwrite the one from the package with it and report back. At least with Gutsy that did the trick.

for opera 9.2x, as far as i know you have to use the 9.0 r48 version

                  Re: Anyone got flash working?

Yep, it's as I thought. The current Flash plugin still causes issues with Xembed in Konqueror and Opera. Downloaded the 9.48 version of Flash, copied it into /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree - presto, Flash works.

                    Re: Anyone got flash working?

Wow -- tonight's updates of gnash have got me watching CNN news videos on 64-bit Kubuntu! This is a first!

                    Foxnews.com is still audio-only.

Here's what it says at ABC News:

"Ooops Our new video player is only available for:
Windows 2000/XP/Vista - Internet Explorer, Firefox Mac - Firefox, Safari
                    "

                    What a bunch of jerks!

BBC still works great, btw, as well as Youtube. 8)

                    Go, gnash devs!

Do you have Greasemonkey and the FoxNews Frienly Video Script installed? It works for me on 32 bit Firefox 3 in HH.

Greasemonky = YES, FFVS = NO. That's a great tip -- I'll have to try it -- THANKS! Is the script on their web site, or in the repo?
