    Synaptic Woes

My precious Synaptic no longer seems to want to finish it's tasks. It installs packages but never reports that the job is complete. What's worse it doesn't want to stop running. I've tried removing and and re-installing it with no luck.

Adept Manager is working just fine in HH/KDE4.

      Take that, you synaptic addicts!

Addict is a bit strong isn't it?

I mean it's not like I can't go a day without using it.

Each install Adept is the first thing I use!

Of course I use it to install Snyaptic and then don't touch Adept again until next install. hehehe

                  Re: Synaptic Woes

I think the problem is with the language-writing-en package that is trying to be installed. Since we have each removed the language-base-en packages maybe this is causing the problem?

Hrmm I guess it's not that package that's causing the problem then. Hrmph.

I don't know but when I want to upgrade in HH/kde4 synaptic never says it is finished.
So I have to log out/in and chack with apt-get. But it does work in HH/kde3

Yeah, it's been that way with Adept Manager also -- too many half-baked upgrades, I guess. They seem to finish with apt-get. I did a -f install the other day -- I don't usually do that, but it didn't hurt anything.

                          ..... so far .....

                            LOL!

Yep I too have resorted to using apt-get to get things done. A dpkg --config -a fixed the problems that adept and synaptic had left.

Yikes -- I just saw the list of today's updates, in Adept Manager!

                              compiz-everything, plus lots more --

                              Gulp.

OK, I clicked "Apply" -- crossing fingers and toes here.
