    kde4 unable to start

    Guys,

I solicit your help. i am stuck.
    I decided to install kde4.

    So i did
    Code:
     sudo apt-get install kde4-core
Everything went fine at the installation (no error)

I did a ctrl alt backspace to restart x and log on in kde4.
What is happening is that i log in (works), then i see the splash screen with my actual background. All the icons in the splash screen go on, and then nothing appears, i don't see the desktop of kde4.

On the other hand, kde 3.5.9 is working all right.
In my K menu, i see that the kde4 programs have been installed.

I tried to delete the .kde4, and then relog to kde4, it is not working either, i am still stuck and nothing appears after the splash screen.

    That's a shame cause i can't use kde4.

    Any guess or help ?

    Thanks in advance

    Starbe

Delete /etc/kde4rc if it's there. Bad update along the way left that file and some non working entries.

It's a file but if you don't have it then it's something else.

Look at your ~/.xsession-errors file and see if anything towards the end gives a clue and post it here if it seems relevant.

Make sure you're up to date too, there's some kde4 updates today.
