    Head's up: breakage in python-apt and update-manager-core

It looks like the new python-apt package has some problems. At least, it does on AMD64.

I haven't looked for the cause/fix yet, but will if it's not fixed when I update tomorrow.

I have this same problem today.

There is a bug report on file:

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...er/+bug/192992

this also seems to have a fix near the bottom, but I haven't tried it.

      Thanks for the info!

The guy's fix actually is to go back to an older version and override apt from upgrading... so I think I'll pass on that. With so many people seeing the bug, they're bound to have it resolved in the next few days.

Just to let everyone know - it appears this has been fixed in the repo. Upgrade away!

it appears it is a python bug in the package for apt, but beware there is also a bug in jockey-common and in jockey-kde

Updated last night and had problems. Maybe the mirrors weren't caught up yet. I'll try again tonight.

The problem come from python-central upgraded to version 0.5.50ubuntu3.

It could lead to errors in severals package typical from
                Traceback (most recent call last):
                File "/usr/bin/pycentral", line 1593, in <module>

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'getvalue'
A nice way to fiw this for guys stucked like i was

edit the file with kdesu kate

                /usr/bin/pycentral

go to line 1592 and comment that line:

                #if __name__ == '__main__':

                save and exit

                then do

                apt-get -f install

the packets should install now without complaining.

                hope it helps
