    GUI ADSL connector and monitor

While the pppoeconf and pon/poff dsl-provider are easy to use, there is no monitor for me to check if the connection is alive and well or dead. Also, maybe it's time to move up to GUI from the pon/poff commands. Funny why dial-up has KPPP and DSL doesn't have it.

Or is there a program out there that I might have missed? Let me know. Thanks.

    It's console based, but ....

    pppstatus (available in Adept Manager)
    console-based PPP status monitor

PPPstatus is a console-based utility for displaying the status
of a PPP link, including connection verification, connecting
time, costs calculation, top speed, e-mail check, ip address,
graphical statistics, TX and RX leds, interface selection, and
more. It even supports xDSL with pppoe.
And if you want a GUI app that has ppp0 monitor functionality, you can install gkrellm which is also available in Adept Manager.

Have tried Gkrellm, not quite what I had in mind since it is still summoned via command line, though it does well with its ppp lights. My request thought still stands for an ADSL dialer somewhat like KPPP. Thanks.

Gkrellm is just a system monitor. You said you also were looking for a GUI monitor of your ppp connection.

Finally found something close to what I need, though it's not KDE... gpppwrap/Gnome PPP On. Hope something KDE of this can be made.

OK, aside from gpppon, knet provides the monitor with the live lights I was looking for. Problem is, knet seems to crash easily for me when I try to set it up... will post in another thread this issue. Thanks.
