How to configure WLAN for Kubuntu 8.04.1?

    Hello,

I am new forum member and new with Linux Kubuntu.

I just install Kubuntu 8.04.1 to my friends laptop with trade mark ADVANCE (sorry, didn't mean to endorse this trade mark).

But seem we got problem with wireless connection:
On hotspot area, it recieves signal with maximum level but, when we try to connect to internet with Konqueror or Firefox 3 just encountered errors.

I don't really know how to configure WLAN with KubunKnetworkmanager.
Therefore please someone be so kind to teach me how to do this correctly.
    We'll wait and thank you...

the process goes some thing like this

    1. right click on the Knetwork manager icon in ur tray area,
    2. it should show avaible networks in a list here
    3. left click on the network that you wish to use
then it should start the connection process and if needed prompt for a encryption key.
    4. at this point you should be connected

If that doesn't work, you could give wicd a go. I had more luck with that in 8.04 and earlier versions. The KNetworkManager in Intrepid has done a good job so far, though.
      KDE, I heart thee.

There we are sithlord48, we forgotten such step at no 3 which just you shown.
We just think that when we see all available network with max. signal then we automatically connected.

        Thank you guys, now solved.

once you connect to a network i will save it and if your in range you will automagicly be connected to that network ,

when i turn my tizzy on @ work i am autoconnected to the wifi network there,
then when i go home i auto connect to my network @ home

only had to tell it to connect to each network once...

if for some reason you get issues w/ knetworkmanager later on such as connecting to some encrypted networks i would have to second the sugestion made by Zorael. you can install wicd.

the "ezer" way to install it is to go to this page
          http://wicd.sourceforge.net/download.php
and take a look at the installing in Ubuntu section
