Doing my third clean install of 8.04 64bit on a Compaq F700 notebook.
I've done the HSFModem install before, but this time I get a message I have never seen before:
dude@nowhere:~/Desktop/modem/hsfmodem-7.68.00.09x86_64oem$ sudo make install
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/dude/Desktop/modem/hsfmodem-7.68.00.09x86_64oem/nvm'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `inf/pcibasic2.inf', needed by `cvt/pcibasic2'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dude/Desktop/modem/hsfmodem-7.68.00.09x86_64oem/nvm'
make: *** [install] Error 2
So my questions are:
What went wrong?
How do I fix this?
I have to have a dialup modem - -broadband is a fantasy here at home, so I have to resort to damned slow dialup.
