    No network

Hiya guys, I have a 64 bit system like most peeps these days. I've tried both the x64 and x86 OS's of Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.1.1 and cannot get any network at all. Here is a summary the details from network manager. Things seem fine there but still no internet.

I have ran 7.04 in the past with no issues.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An error occurred while loading http://www.google.co.uk:
    Unknown host google.co.uk: Unknown error

The following details where in the network manager...

    Connection Status - KNetworkManager

    Device Page.......................
    Device: MCP55 Ethernet
    Vendor: nVidia Corporation
    Interface: eth1
    Bandwidth: 100 Mb/s
    Active: yes
    Carrier detect: supported

    Addresses.........................
    IP: 0.0.0.0
    Hardware add. 00:18:F35:55:9F
    Subnet mask: 0.0.0.0
    Broadcast: 0.0.0.0

    Statistics.........................

    Bytes 0 4633
    MBytes 0.0 0.0
    Packets 0 0
    Errors 0 0

    KBytes/s 0.0 0.0

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any help to resolve this would be much appreciated. I get the above error both when running from the installation disc and after installing the OS.

PLEASE help as I'm so fed up of windows vista failing on me! lol

    Many thanks in advance, Mikey.

    Re: No network

Try and ping 127.0.0.1 first let us know what happens

Maybe try and hard code an ip address?

if your router has an ip like 192.168.0.1

    set it as:

    ip 192.168.0.10
    subnet 255.255.255.0
    default-gateway 192.168.0.1
