sorry i haven't had time to follow up on this issue lately.
been (and still am) pretty busy.
very good.
it seems the kernel space servers is the actual way to do nfs, anyway.
the user space stuff could have been an interesting test to run.
but the kernel space stuff is the actual officially supported stuff.
so...
unfortunately i have no experience with gnu/linux setups like yours in the real world.
it could well be that you simply had to many services running on the same machine
and the overload triggers some bug that wouldn't otherwise be triggered in normal
circumnstances...
