    I want 192.168.1.10 in stead of 192.168.1.13

    Hello,

I installed hardy server on my file/web server in stead of xp.
    Yesss, linux only now here!

The server got another ip from the router, how can I change it back to 192.168.1.10 ?

    Thanks.

That depends on your router configuration.

There are a couple of options:

    - Static dhcp leases, this lets the router give out the ip-address but you're getting the same adress everytime and nobody else gets it.

    - Static ip configuration on the clientside (in your case the server).

For a server the last option has a bit more preference, if there is anything wrong with the router and the dhcp lease off the server expires you'll have connectability problems even within your private network.

In both cases you'll need to give out an ip-address that is not in the range of the dhcp server. So if the router gives out 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.0.29 you need to put it outside this range. Do stay in the same networksegment though.

      Thank you.

Yes sure I prefer static ip's, I have scripts and the like for those adresses.
I actually have a switch behind the modem/router.

What I did was shut everything down and then on again, modem/router and pc's, after that the original situation is restored again.
I get 3 ip's, it starts at 192.168.1.10 probably because that is configured in the router and then it increments for every device.

Anyway, situation is back as to what I like.
