Using an AR5212 wireless card.
It usually works right out of the box on 8.04 and on 8.10.
No fancy compiling or so required.
No madwifi either.
Only recently I have run into some issues with the card, particularly in 8.10. Found a way of making it all work since the driver is there and the card scans and locates the wireless networks.
Normally I replace network-manager with wicd.
Right now I am running both versions of Kubuntu (8.04 and 8.10) on the network-manager. It works.
Don't ask me why and how. But it does.
